Visiting Greece? Hereā€™s 5 Awesome Places You Need To See

Greece

Up for a new adventure? Maybe a little rendezvous into Southern Europe? Are you considering taking a little trip to the ancient country of Greece? There are more than a thousand reasons to want to visit such a beautiful country. This could span from the political history as the birthplace of democracy to the exquisite indigenous food, or maybe you just caught the movie, ā€œMy Big Fat Greek Wedding.ā€ Frankly, no matter what your reason is, we are just so happy youā€™re taking such a big step into a life-changing experience. As usual, we always strive to make your experience an amazing, rewarding and stress-free one, so weā€™ve come with a little checklist. What does this checklist have, you ask? Of course, you guessed right! We have the 5 best places you need to see right now! So, without further ado, letā€™s get right into it!

1) Athens

Athens, Greece.

Taking our top spot just because we can thank this beautiful city for the starting spark for modern-day democracy. We also love it because itā€™s the setting of ā€œGreek godsā€ by Rick Riordan, and we do love our mythology. This ancient city, now a resting place of modernisation boasts of its impressive freeways, clean and smooth streets and modern subways. So, why is this city so impressive? Well, we have a whole bunch of tourist attractions we think would blow your mind. Want to see some dazzling flowers? Why not try the National Gardens? Or maybe your taste mixes more with mythology. Well, we have the ruins of the temple of the Greek god Zeus and the still preserved Temple of Hephaestus. You could also try the Acropolis, the National Archaeological Museum and Ancient Agora.

2) Crete

Crete, Greece.

This beautiful island takes our second spot and with more than enough reason too. Where can we assure you of vast coastlines, beautiful plant life, and rocky landscapes? Well, Crete of course! Being the biggest island situated in Greece, you can find both the peace of quiet communities and the bubbling atmosphere in the fast and beautiful cities. While admiring its archaeological sites and ancient monuments, you should look out for the Elafonisi Beach, the Samaria George National Park and the luxurious Palace of Knossos. Lastly, if youā€™re still up for an adventure, we recommend a bit of wine tasting at Manousakis Winery and having a bit of fun at the Falassama Beach.

3) Rethymo

Rethymo, Greece.

Situated in Crete but worthy of a special mention, Rethymo is another personal favourite of ours because we just canā€™t get enough of the 16th century feel and weā€™re sure you canā€™t too. Take a trip back in time with a visit to this beautiful Venetian town and watch your mind marvel in awe. With impressive buildings and old architecture, this town is awesome for anything and every occasion. Want a little fun out in the night with your lover? The mesmerising waterfalls would do just fine and trust us, thereā€™s a whole lot more to catch. While in this beautiful town, we recommend you catch the Sacred Monastery of Arkadi, the Museum of Wooden Sculptures and very impressive Cave Church of St. Anthony Gorge.

4) Santorini

Santorini, Greece.

What is our list without the famous volcanic island situated in the Cyclades? No, we did not forget Santorini. Santorini boasts of hundreds of tourists every year but that doesnā€™t come as a surprise to us. With the famous blue dome churches of FirĆ” and the sunset in Imerovigli, whatā€™s there not to love? Asides FirĆ” and Imerovigli, we would also recommend heading to AkrotĆri Archaelogical site to see the remnants of the settlement of the ancient Minoan people and the famous red beach to get the full experience. And if youā€™re still thirsty for more island adventures, Ancient Thira and the archaeological Museum in FirĆ” are great spots you should definitely see.

5) Sifnos

Sifnos, Greece.

Are you in the mood for hiking? Because we sure are! What other way to enjoy a new atmosphere and beautiful scenery than being in the heart of it? We implore you to visit the Sifnos trails and explore the over 100km journey through chapels, temples, villages and so much more. What more? You have Aegean just at the back! Now that would make a beautiful picture, donā€™t you think? While here, be sure to check out the Church of the Seven Martyrs, Kamares beach and the Chrisopigi Monastery.

Conclusion
Weā€™ve come to the end of our little journey with you and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. Greece comes with so much beauty and history that itā€™s hard to fit all the best places into one little checklist. But we canā€™t keep you forever, (even though we do love your company), so weā€™ll let you start with this! Most of all, remember to enjoy your trip to the fullest. Go sightseeing, hiking, wine tasting, food exploring and so much more. All we want is for you to come back from your little adventure with all smiles and tons of stories to tell. So, weā€™ll leave it here and we hope you have a wonderful adventure ahead!
